Denna uppgift kan bromsv\u00e4tskan endast utf\u00f6ra tillf\u00f6rlitligt om den \u00e4r i perfekt skick. H\u00e4r spelar viskositet, vattenhalt och kokpunkt en avg\u00f6rande roll.<\/p>\n<p>Bromsv\u00e4tska tillh\u00f6r hydraulv\u00e4tskor och anv\u00e4nds f\u00f6r att \u00f6verf\u00f6ra tryck i fordonets bromssystem. Liksom alla hydraulv\u00e4tskor har bromsv\u00e4tska i princip ingen kompressibilitet. Det inneb\u00e4r att v\u00e4tskans volym knappt f\u00f6r\u00e4ndras \u00e4ven vid h\u00f6gt tryck, och kraften \u00f6verf\u00f6rs utan f\u00f6rluster. Beroende p\u00e5 sina egenskaper delas bromsv\u00e4tskor in i olika s\u00e5 kallade DOT-klasser, och inte alla bromsv\u00e4tskor passar f\u00f6r varje fordon.<\/p>\n<h2>DOT-klasser f\u00f6r bromsv\u00e4tska<\/h2>\n<p>F\u00f6rkortningen DOT st\u00e5r f\u00f6r Department of Transportation, det vill s\u00e4ga den amerikanska motsvarigheten till ett transportdepartement. DOT-klasserna f\u00f6r bromsv\u00e4tskor baseras p\u00e5 den amerikanska standarden FMVSS-116. Idag \u00e4r klasserna DOT 3, 4, 5 och 5.1 vanligast. Endast v\u00e4tskor i klass 5 \u00e4r silikonbaserade och f\u00e5r d\u00e4rf\u00f6r inte blandas med andra klasser.<\/p>\n<h2>Viskositet, vattenhalt och kokpunkt &#8211; egenskaper hos bromsv\u00e4tskor<\/h2>\n<p>Kokpunkten och vattenhalten hos en bromsv\u00e4tska h\u00e4nger n\u00e4ra samman. Bromsv\u00e4tskor \u00e4r hygroskopiska, vilket inneb\u00e4r att de absorberar vatten fr\u00e5n omgivningen. Ju h\u00f6gre vattenhalt, desto l\u00e4gre kokpunkt. I extrema fall kan detta leda till att \u00e5ngbubblor bildas vid kraftig uppv\u00e4rmning under bromsning. Eftersom \u00e5ngbubblor \u00e4r komprimerbara f\u00f6rs\u00e4mras tryck\u00f6verf\u00f6ringen, vilket i v\u00e4rsta fall kan leda till att bromsarna slutar fungera.<\/p>\n<p>Viskositeten \u00e4r ett m\u00e5tt p\u00e5 hur tr\u00f6gflytande en v\u00e4tska \u00e4r och hur den rinner, och spelar en s\u00e4rskilt viktig roll i moderna bromssystem med ABS och ESP. F\u00f6r \u00e4ldre fordon rekommenderas en \u00e5rlig kontroll i verkstad, d\u00e4r vattenhalten m\u00e4ts. Om vattenhalten \u00f6verstiger 3,5 % b\u00f6r bromsv\u00e4tskan bytas. Bytet b\u00f6r utf\u00f6ras p\u00e5 verkstad eller av en erfaren mekaniker. Om tillverkaren har godk\u00e4nt bromsv\u00e4tskor i olika DOT-klasser f\u00f6r fordonet, b\u00f6r man v\u00e4lja den h\u00f6gsta klassen p\u00e5 grund av dess h\u00f6gre kokpunkt.
