Hur mycket st\u00f6d som beh\u00f6vs beror p\u00e5 bilens konstruktion och tillverkarens inst\u00e4llningar.<br \/>\nDet finns d\u00e4rf\u00f6r olika typer av regenerativa bromssystem som \u00e4r anpassade efter anv\u00e4ndningsomr\u00e5de och teknik, men alla har samma syfte: att \u00e5tervinna energi vid inbromsning och anv\u00e4nda den p\u00e5 nytt p\u00e5 ett effektivt s\u00e4tt. Motorns effekt och batteriets kapacitet p\u00e5verkar hur mycket energi som kan \u00e5tervinnas. En enkel tumregel \u00e4r att ju st\u00f6rre motor och batteri, desto mer energi kan \u00e5tervinnas genom regenerativ bromsning. Det inneb\u00e4r att rena elbilar vanligtvis \u00e5tervinner mer energi \u00e4n hybridbilar.
